What IS a DoucheBag?

-The following is a Ballwasher Public Service Announcement.
Fellow Ballwashers,

Over the last couple of years you have no doubt seen or heard many references to "DoucheBags". Indeed, in this Blog it's quite common to see expressions like "Don't be a DoucheBag!", or "You stand accused of High DoucheBaggery!". But what exactly IS a DoucheBag, and what are the criteria that a Ballwasher must meet (or behaviors to avoid) to circumvent this worst of all categories of human existence?

The dictionary definition of DoucheBag is... "A small syringe having detachable nozzles for fluid injections, used chiefly for vaginal lavage and for enemas." Ewwww! Clearly, nothing could be more vile!

Then there are the slang applications of "DoucheBag". Hell, there's even a DoucheBag Rating System (my compliments to the Blogmaster at The Douchebag Report for providing this vital public service)!!

But how does this apply to the everyday Ballwasher?? Here are the behaviors that can quickly move a Ballwasher to the ignoble category of DoucheBag.

You are probably a DoucheBag if...

  1. You are a "regular" Ballwasher that golfs weekly in the League, but you fail to pay your dues to Willie in a prompt & timely manner with NO WHINING!
  2. You make no effort to provide timely feedback/responses when called upon to do so by Ballwasher League & Event organizers. This includes failure to heed calls for updated contact information.
  3. You complain/whine/piss & moan about your one-of-a-kind Ballwasher attire.
  4. You complain/whine/piss & moan about the Ballwashers, or about being a Ballwasher.
  5. You are a "Vintage Ballwasher" who repeatedly breaks written/spoken commitments to participate in Major Ballwasher Outings, citing ridiculously lame excuses, only to compound your DoucheBaggery by violating Item #2 when we try to find out WTF is going on with your sorry ass.
  6. You even THINK about disrespecting WILLIE or BRIT.
  7. You feel awkward when throwing a proud Ballwasher Salute.
Please regard this list as the start of an evolving "work in process"...an ongoing guideline that will serve to help Ballwashers across the globe to avoid the pitfalls and embarrassment of being a DoucheBag. If none of these items applies to you, then you are likely a Ballwasher in good standing, and you may proudly stand with your head held high!

Participation in our First Ballwasher AlexBay outing is ALSO a step in the right direction...a step toward salvation for those of you in need. It may be too late for some, but there is still time for others to save themselves.

Remember to NOT let unsightly DoucheBaggery happen to you!

Welcome Home, BRIT!

Fellow Ballwashers,

It wasn't all that long ago that Brit's prostate was the talk of the Internet. A lifetime of abuse caused Brit to go under the knife for removal of his festering, putrid prostate. But true to form, Brit weathered that brutal storm and has emerged a stronger man, a wiser man, a Renaissance Man, if you will.
Brit & Willie holding poster

Ooops, sorry! I was thinking of someone else. Brit is still the Homer Simpson of the Ballwashers, but a true Ballwasher nonetheless! And to welcome him home from his surgical ordeal, his true Ballwasher buddies greeted him with a heart-felt poster that expressed everything one could think about our lifelong buddy, Brit!

Brit's poster a bit closer

Remember that you can click (and sometimes click again) to enlarge images in this Blog to see them in their full-size glory!

We're glad to have you back home, Brit. And as one of many who know, Toni is a saint for not just carving out your prostate on the kitchen table. Stay healthy, Brit, so we can spend MANY MORE years in your good Ballwasher company, including our AlexBay outing next month.

We love ya, BRIT! Thank you for the pics, Bus!

One Month and Counting!

Fellow Ballwashers,

This is an exciting time to be a Ballwasher! While many of you are now contemplating putting away your snowmobiles, snow shovels and flannel sheets, we have moved into the final stretch leading up to our FIRST annual Ballwasher AlexBay golf outing.

Plans for this outing began in October, 2006, and now we are only 1 month away! As we draw nearer to the date you'll be expected to have your money ready for the outing, and Willie always takes additional collections for prizes, skins, etc.

I know that many of you have been holding out until the last minute for a variety of reasons, and if it IS your intention to jump on board in the 11th hour then we welcome you warmly, we've got a place for you at the outing. We just can't guarantee a room, and for that you are now on your own. You can use the information that I've been providing for months now, as these are the places to contact, but rates may now be higher and room availability may be harder to come by.

Don't be a DoucheBag! Get moving pronto if you hope to be in the outing!
More to come soon!

BallWasher Housekeeping Update

Fellow Ballwashers,

Recent Cleansing:
It is with great pleasure that I announce the removal of Mike D. and Derek S. from our sacred ranks. This decision has been handed down by our imperial leader, Willie! Like many who have demonstrated their BallWasher unworthiness due to bad attitudes and high DoucheBaggery, they have been banished to the DoucheBag page of the Ballwasher Contact spreadsheet. Good riddance, DoucheBags! You added nothing to our league but negativity and whining, and you are now in the company of others of your ilk...DoucheBags known as "Ball-gag Boy", "Strap-on Girl" and "Osama Bendover". An updated spreadsheet will go out to all Ballwashers shortly before our AlexBay outing.

AlexBay Update:
I got a new email from our friends at The Ship Motel. They said:
Please remind your group that they must make reservations as soon as possible as we are filling up for the weekend of June 8th and 9th. I can only hold rooms until May 1st without confirmed reservations. As of this date the following have confirmed reservations:
  • Antl (1 room)
  • Hall (2 rooms)
  • Hobaica (1 room)
  • Mattice (2 rooms)
  • Norton (1 room)
  • Paul (1 room)
  • Williams (3 rooms)
Looking forward to THE BALLWASHERS!!!!!!!!!!!

This is what their records show so far (11 reserved rooms). Also, here is an update on Ballwasher AlexBay participation:

  • ADMIRAL I (9)...overnight Thur/Fri/Sat, Golf Fri/Sat
  • ADMIRAL II (12)...overnight Fri/Sat, Golf Fri/Sat
  • CAPTAIN I (-0-)...overnight Sat, Golf Fri/Sat
  • CAPTAIN II (-0-)...overnight Sat, Golf Sat
  • LUBBER (1)...NO overnight, Golf Sat
  • DoucheBag-Confirmed (10)...NO overnight, NO Golf
  • DoucheBag-Unconfirmed (43)...Why are you in this League??
We still have room to take in Ballwashers who want to attend. It's not too late, and we have some double-occupancy rooms that still need a 2nd occupant. Don't be a DoucheBag!! Only 7 weeks until AlexBay!!

Ballwashers Take the Throne!

Fellow Ballwashers,

OK...I find that I'm trembling as I write this, and I don't know if it's because I'm excited, amazed, afraid or some combination of all three.

In 1986, when the Ballwashers were created, we had v-neck Ballwasher jerseys made for our League members. In the time that followed, these shirts have covered a lot of ground and seen many things!
Then, early last year, Willie reminded me that 2006 was the 20th Anniversary Year of the Ballwashers, and this launched our effort to create NEW Ballwasher Golf shirts to commemorate our Great League's milestone anniversary. We made 76 of those shirts last year!

BUT here we are now in 2007, and NEVER, in my wildest imaginings, could I envision I would EVER see one of our 20th Anniversary Ballwasher Shirts in one of Saddam Hussein's palaces (the Al Faw palace), draped across the throne of the deposed and recently executed leader himself.

I don't know what this picture means to you, but I can tell you its sheer beauty and majesty leaves me awestruck! Last year I folded and delivered that shirt to Chuck & Shlotz for subsequent delivery to Lomed, a man who I now regard as possibly the Greatest Ballwasher Ever! And now we can gaze upon that fucking shirt sitting on this throne (said to be a gift from Yasser Arafat to Saddam Hussein). Here's the only picture I could find showing the throne by itself.

Thanks a million, Lomed! Get home safe so we can salute you properly in Alex Bay in June! -Nort

Sixty Days 'Til Alex Bay!

Fellow Ballwashers,

Only two months remain until the start of our 1st Annual Balwasher Alex Bay golf-outing. This two-day event begins on June 8, and it's going to be a great event!

Willie had details on AlexBay and the entire Ballwasher Season at Thursday night's 2007 kick-off meeting at Kill-a-brew last week. If you missed the meeting you should request this info from Willie asap!

Here is the current AlexBay participant count:

  • ADMIRAL I (9)...overnight Thur/Fri/Sat, Golf Fri/Sat
  • ADMIRAL II (12)...overnight Fri/Sat, Golf Fri/Sat
  • CAPTAIN I (-0-)...overnight Sat, Golf Fri/Sat
  • CAPTAIN II (-0-)...overnight Sat, Golf Sat
  • LUBBER (1)...NO overnight, Golf Sat
  • DoucheBag-Confirmed (9)...NO overnight, NO Golf
  • DoucheBag-Unconfirmed (46)...Why are you in this League??
Look, folks! My goal in maintaining this Blog is to disseminate (or if your BRIT, to inseminate) the good news that embodies being a Ballwasher. Instead, I find myself boring everyone with having to issue stupid verbal scoldings of the sort that were NEVER required with "Ballwashers of old".

And a question to you unconfirmed DoucheBags...When will you make a decision? Why can you NOT let Willie know if you will be or won't be attending the AlexBay outing? Why are you even in this league if you can't take the time to speak up and be heard?

And another thing! Only FIVE Ballwashers showed up at Thursday's 2007 kick-off meeting! Are you kidding me??? OK, it was an icy night and driving may have been a factor. But tell that to BRIT who showed up despite the fact that he's still struggling to recover from prostate cancer surgery. And tell that to BUS who drove in from Rome to attend the meeting. And nobody had the courtesy to tell Willie that they would not be able to get to the meeting! You should be ASHAMED!

That only five people attended the meeting is a complete DISGRACE! Seriously folks...what the fuck!? Willie has better things to do than waste his time maintaining the best Golf League on the planet for ungrateful assholes. I hope Willie takes a fresh look at our league and does some serious housecleaning, because too many claim to be Ballwashers without a clue as to what that really means.

It shouldn't have to come to this. What a disappointment.

Iraqi Fashion Craze - Update

Fellow Ballwashers,

Thanks to the determined efforts of Chuck & Shlotz, Lomed has received his 20th Anniversary Ballwasher Golf Shirt while on active duty in Iraq!
Forget the burqa!! Lomed has sent us 2 pictures that feature anonymous "Ballwashers-in-training" who are lucky enough to touch, or at least be seen with, his new prized possession

Remember that you can enlarge ANY of the pics in this Blog by clicking on them until they stop "growing".

Lomed
is scheduled to return home late April or early May, 2007. Here's a recent pic of Lomed in a BlackHawk helicopter.

Please DO get home safe, Lomed! We are ALL looking forward to seeing you at our AlexBay outing in June! Expect a Big Ballwasher Salute!

Stosh Alert!

Fellow Ballwashers,

It's been brought to my attention that a Vintage Ballwasher, Gary (Stosh) W., may join us in Alexandria Bay in June! Once I heard this I immediately began checking my butt for creatures trying to make an unexpected exit. I discussed this concern briefly with Chuck P., and he wisely suggested that I should take greater care to make sure such things don't sneak in my butt in the first place. Good advice for all of us, Chuck! But back to Gary. Here's a 1987 picture of Gary & Dave T. feeling no pain (foreground), plus Brit & Coopster feeling each other (background). Gary, I hope you do show up because too much time has passed since we last hung out with the Stosh-meister. And although you may be able to fool many a seasoned Ballwasher, you can't fool me!

Recall that you raised our hopes & expectations for the 20th Anniversary Mid-Season outing. Then you backed out! Then you raised our hopes & expectations for the 20th Anniversary Final outing. You backed out again!

Well you're not going to lead me down this same path a third time, Stosh. I think our great President George W. Bush phrased it best when he once said...(video).

So here's my point, Stosh. Don't waste my time and the time of other Ballwashers with your idle claptrap. Put your money where your mouth is (a risky proposition because you never know where it's been), make your hotel reservation, and we'll talk.

Please don't let us down a third time.

Three Months and Counting!

Fellow Ballwashers,

Most of you must be sick & tired of your daily winter commute...
Genessee Street - Utica, NY ;-)

...but take heart, because THREE MONTHS FROM TODAY we'll be looking at this kind of a drive in Alexandria Bay:
Thousand Islands Country Club - Old Course

Alex Bay Rooming update:
As of this posting, we have 20 Ballwashers with confirmed Alex Bay overnight accommodations. Those of you who have remained silent are at serious risk of having no rooming options to pick from. The Ship Motel (315-482-4503) has no more two-bed rooms available, but they do have about 5-6 rooms with a King or Queen bed.

If that doesn't work for you, then I recommend reserving rooms at one of these two alternative locations. The prices are comparable to the prices offered by The Ship, but rooms at these places are moving quickly, too:
Alex Bay Attendance update:
As of this posting, 21 Ballwashers have confirmed they will play in Alex Bay, the majority choosing "Admiral" packages, and 7 cannot make it for a variety of lame, bogus reasons.
  • Admiral I - 10
  • Admiral II - 10
  • Captain I - 0
  • Captain II - 0
  • Lubber - 1
  • DoucheBags (confirmed) - 7
  • DoucheBags (unconfirmed) - 49
Forty-nine silent DoucheBags are waiting for something to happen I guess, but I can't imagine what that would be. Are we making this too easy for you? Are we providing you with too much helpful information? Would you prefer to have a really hard time trying to get a room once they're ALL GONE?

Remember, Don't Be a DoucheBag!

The remaining three months will pass before you know it. I've already reserved my flights and secured my room. This outing is likely to be repeated in years to come, and we can ALL be a part of Ballwasher History by being there at the beginning! And let's not forget about the Canadian imports that will be in town when college is out.

Wake up already, and make your plans ASAP!! Arrggggh!

You're a Hearty Upstate New Yorker if...

Fellow Ballwashers,
I don't normally pass along this kind of material, but if it doesn't generate a few chuckles then you may be in a coma. Some fine work by Jeff Foxworthy (forgive me if you've already seen these elsewhere):

  • If you consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 36 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim by, you might live in Upstate NY.
  • If you're proud that your region makes the national news 96 nights a year because Saranac Lake is the coldest spot in the nation, and Syracuse gets more snow than any other major city in the US, you might live in Upstate, NY.
  • If your local Dairy Queen is closed from October through May, you might live in Upstate NY.
  • If you instinctively walk like a penguin for six months out of the year, you might live, bundled up, in Upstate NY.
  • If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance, and they don't work there, you might live in Upstate NY.
  • If your dad's suntan stops at a line curving around the middle of his forehead, you might live in Upstate NY.
  • If you have worn shorts and a parka on the same day, you might live in Upstate NY.
  • If you have had a lengthy phone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you might live in Upstate NY.
YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRUE UPSTATE NEW YORKER WHEN:
  • "Vacation" means going South past Syracuse for the weekend.
  • You measure distance in hours.
  • You know several people who have hit a deer more than once.
  • You often switch from "Heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back again.
  • You can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard, without flinching.
  • You install security lights on your house and garage and leave both unlocked.
  • You carry jumper cables in your car and your girlfriend/wife knows how to use them.
  • You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit.
  • Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow.
  • You know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction.
  • You can identify a southern or eastern accent.
  • Down South to you means Corning.
  • Your neighbor throws a party to celebrate his new shed !
  • You go out for a fish fry every Friday.
  • Your 4th of July picnic was moved indoors due to frost.
  • You have more miles on your snow blower than your car.
  • You find 10 degrees "a little chilly."
Only 3.5 months until Alex Bay!

Four Months 'til Alex Bay

Fellow Ballwashers,

I know that for many of you the weather outside is frightful right now, which is why it's so important to focus on warmer times to come. And what better time to look toward than our 1st Alex Bay Ballwasher golf outing?

Several Ballwashers, those who can accurately be described as the core members of our league, have already set expectations and made plans to be at the Alex Bay outing. Here is where we stand at this time:

  • Admiral I - 10
  • Admiral II - 10
  • Captain I - 0
  • Captain II - 0
  • Lubber - 1
  • DoucheBags (confirmed) - 7
  • DoucheBags (unconfirmed) - 49
NOTE that Alex Bay does NOT have a limitless supply of hotel/motel rooms, and they fill up QUICKLY starting in June, the month we'll be there.

The Ship Motel has offered a 10% discount to any Ballwasher who rooms there. The "Captain" of The Ship is the Mayor of Alexandria Bay, and they have asked that we specify (by Feb 15) the number of double-occupancy rooms to hold because they, too, are getting inquiries about room availability in June. This makes it all the more important for you to share your intentions with me or Willie asap, so that we can set a reasonable expectation on how many rooms to hold for us. The Ship offers the BEST central location in Alex Bay for nighttime pub-crawling. Please get in touch with us ASAP!!

Oh...and I did mention that the Thousand Islands Country Club offers complimentary caddies? Here's a photo showing the TICC Caddie Shuttle bringing their eager caddies out for that start of another hard day.
Well, we can always dream!!

Remember...Don't Be A DoucheBag!! We'll be on the Tee Box 4 months from today!! I hope to hear from you all very soon!

Happy New Year

Fellow Ballwashers,

As we begin a historic new Ballwasher Year it is important that we all recognize the recent passing of a great Ballwasher, Doug O'Hara. He was only 59 years old. Doug is now our second deceased Ballwasher, and I'm sure he's riding a golf cart with Bill Miller in a better place.

But there is also some good news as we've purged our ranks of two DoucheBags, J. Burke & J. DeLong, leaving us more pure than when the year began. J. Burke & J. DeLong are guilty of High DoucheBaggery for speaking disparagingly of the Ballwashers, and for sucking the life out of our League. They are now banished to the DoucheBag category of despair.

I'm advised that other League members also now ride on the brink of DoucheBaggery, and I advise that you mend your ways before it is too late for you, too!

And there is MORE good news to share!

I spoke with our contact at Thousand Islands Country Club (TICC) and we are now locked-in for TWO DAYS of GOLF (Friday/Saturday) on June 8-9, 2007, in Alexandria Bay. They will provide us with Breakfast, Greens Fees and Cart each day, and we now know that we're scheduled to play the "Old Course" on Friday, June 8, and the "Lake Course" on Saturday, June 9. We're still working out lunch logistics. Tee-times are 10:30am each day.

Our contact at TICC recommended that we give serious consideration to staying at The Ship Motel if we want a good central location from which to wander the streets of Alex Bay at night. He ALSO pointed out that The Ship's owner is Mr. Pat Simpson, the Mayor of Alex Bay!! I'm waiting to hear back from Pat to see what kind of group deal he can offer the Ballwashers.

MEANWHILE, it's now time for YOU to start setting expectations as you plan your attendance in our FIRST Ballwasher AlexBay Golf Outing! Remember our naming convention to help guide you:
  • Admiral #1: 3 Nites lodging (Thur-Sat), 2 days Golf (Fri/Sat)
  • Admiral #2: 2 Nites lodging (Fri-Sat), 2 days Golf (Fri/Sat)
  • Captain #1: 2 Nites lodging (Fri-Sat) and 1 day Golf (Sat)
  • Captain #2: 1 Nite lodging (Fri or Sat) and 1 day Golf (Sat)
  • Lubber: NO lodging, 1 day Golf (Sat)
  • DoucheBag: No Lodging, No Golf - Who let you into this League??
FIVE Ballwashers have already specified plans for the Admiral #1 class of stay. This outing happens only FIVE MONTHS from now, and time passes quickly, so make haste and start getting back to me with your plans & intentions around this event.

All you DISTANT Ballwashers, this is the event to attend. If flying in, Syracuse is probably the airport to use.

There will be more news to share in coming weeks. I hope to start hearing from you soon! Remember, don't be a DoucheBag!

Wishing you a Merry Ballwasher Christmas

Fellow Ballwashers,

As 2006 draws to a close I wanted to say Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you all. This has been a major year of Ballwasher rejuvenation as we've tried to restore the magic and majesty of being a Ballwasher. This is not your average golf league. The potential risk/reward associated with participation in a Ballwasher Golf Outing certainly exceeds the potential risk/reward of climbing Mount Hood in December.

Our 1st Alexandria Bay Mid-Season outing is only 6 months away now! It's sure to be an event we'll long remember, and we should regard this as the first of many new golf venues that the Ballwashers should start exploring in the years to come.

Watch for more vital Ballwasher news in 2007. Stay safe, enjoy the Holidays, and above all Don't Be a Douchebag!!!

2007 Mid-Season Outing in Alex Bay!!

IT'S OFFICIAL:
  • The 2007 Mid-Season Outing is in AlexBay, June 7-10
  • The 2007 Final Outing is in Saratoga, Sept 14-16
  • No Ballwasher golf outing is planned for Old Forge/Inlet in 2007
LODGING (Mid-Season):
Ballwashers will be responsible for securing their own Mid-season lodging in AlexBay. Once we lock-down the cost of AlexBay Golf/Meal packages plus Saratoga Golf/Meal packages, we'll share that with you.
We've done some Alex Bay lodging research and SENT YOU a spreadsheet that's a comprehensive starting point. It contains 28 potential AlexBay lodging options, including several that were ruled-out. It's more than we need, and I expect to whittle it down to a shorter list. There are a number of places right in AlexBay for which there is NO information available on the Internet (Arggg), but for those that DO advertise on the web, the following locations look suitable for our demanding Ballwasher requirements (Yo-Ho!!):
Click on the links above, check out the spreadsheet, and send me any suggestions you may have. Some of these places offer "GROUP LODGING" (gasp) where we could potentially lodge a critical mass of Ballwashers under 1 roof. Is that frightening or what?

GOLF (Mid-Season):
  • Thousand Islands Country Club
  • (TICC) - Is our likely golf destination as things now stand. They are located on Wellesley Island (still in the USA), about 6 miles from AlexBay, and we would have to cross the Thousand Islands Bridge to get there & back from AlexBay. TICC has two 18-hole courses, the "Old Course" (par 72) and the "Lake Course" (par 70). We will arrange two days of golf, playing one course on Friday, 6/8/2007, and the other course on Saturday, 6/9/2007. Still working out the details for a two-day golf package with carts, breakfasts & maybe lunch. Unfortunately they do not accept June 2007 Group Golf (without lodging) reservations until March 2007, but I'll press them anyway. Their 2007 pricing is supposed to come my way when they finalize it in mid-November. TICC is pressing me to do a STAY & PLAY package, but that won't work because it would make it too dangerous for us to travel across the Bridge to/from Alex Bay at night.
  • C-Way Golf Club
  • (C-Way) - Is less likely right now, but we'll see. They are about 2 miles south of AlexBay on Rt 12 in Clayton, NY. C-Way has one 18-hole course (par 71). They just sent details on a two-day Golf/Meal package:
    • 18 holes golf w/cart Fri, 6/8 (10am tee-time) & Sat (2pm tee-time), 6/9.
    • SIX-Pack beer at tee time
    • Breakfast Fri/Sat morning at Natali's restaurant (buffet style)
    • Lunch at the turn after 9 holes (hot dog or cold sandwich)
    • Dinner Sat. nite at Natali's restaurant (3 choices) - (DO WE WANT THIS?)
    • PACKAGE PRICE: $113 / person
    • PROBLEM is the LATE Tee-time on Saturday June 9.
  • HYBRID Outing?? - The possibility of a "Hybrid" approach exists, where we might Golf Friday at C-Way and Saturday at TICC. I'd prefer to avoid this because it doubles the complexity of arranging all this.
Let me know your thoughts, if you have any.
Let me know if you want to order any 20th Anniversary Ballwasher Shirts, Hats or Towels.
Thanks!
-Nort
